FAQ: Where do you get your essential oils?

A: Eden Botanicals, Lotus Garden, and Organic Infusions

Carrier oil, butter, wax suppliers: Those listed above, plus: From Nature With Love, Majestic Mountain Sage, Bulk Naturals, Mountain Rose Herbs.

Colors and micas are from Making Cosmetics.

Natural flours, starches: Bob's Red Mill

As per the requirements of PETA's Beauty without Bunnies program, I have confirmed that all of these suppliers are cruelty free and I only use ingredients that do not contain animal products.

FAQ: This product has a slightly different color/texture/scent than the last time I ordered. Did you change the formula?

A: No. I would never change the formula or add an additional ingredient without updating the ingredient list on the product page. If there is a big change to a product or formula I will usually make a bold banner notification at the top of the page and also send an email letting my customers know about the update.

While it's always possible that I made a mistake during production, most likely what you're noticing here is the natural variations in these ingredients from lot to lot. Every bottle, tub, and jar of oil, wax, butter, etc., that I receive from my suppliers has a slightly different consistency, color, and odor because nature is not uniform. Different climates and growing conditions affect each harvest, distillation, etc. Products containing rosehip oil, blueberry seed oil, and shea butter tend to have the most variation from lot to lot.

Because I am a very small business and prefer to keep my store of supplies as fresh as possible, I do not buy big bulk orders of ingredients so there are often small, subtle changes from batch to batch.

This is the beauty of completely natural, small batch products and it's what makes them so effectively healing as they do not contain the fillers or texturizers that big manufacturers use to achieve a consistent bulk product.

Please note that as of February 2025 I have had to change to a new variety of shea butter which has a different consistency than the butter I've used for the past few years. You may notice that your butter product has a slight grainy feel at first touch, but it should still melt smoothly into your skin once it warms to your body heat.

Mail-in refills are available to paid members of the Twinkle Apothecary Patreon community. Bottle return shipping is free, and refills are 20% off the retail price.

Subscriptions

Boxes: The Surprise Scent Monthly and Off the Menu subscriptions work the same way. To sign up, place your order by the 14th of each month by 12 pm US central time. The boxes (or envelopes) will ship on the 15th, or next business day if the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday.

Ordering after the 14th at noon puts you on the list for the next month's box.

Example: To sign up for a January Subscription box, you can order anytime between December 14th at 12:00 pm - January 14th at 11:59 am.

Ordering on January 14th at 12:00 pm or after will sign you up for the February box.

What's in the next box: The next month's Off the Menu item and a hint for the upcoming Surprise Scent will be revealed on the respective product pages after the 14th at noon each month. Be sure to check the product pages on the afternoon of the 14th to see what's in the next month's box, especially if you are not subscribed to my email list or push notifications!

You will always be charged for the next month's box each month on the same day (and exact time) that you placed your original order. If you would like to cancel or skip a month, you'll need to do so before your charge date. If you are not able to cancel before you're charged, simply email me to be refunded any time before I make the products on the afternoon of the 14th.

If you sign up for multiple subscription boxes (fun!) I will ship them all together to you on the 15th and refund any excess shipping fees.

For regular subscribe-and-save recurring product orders: your item will ship within 1-5 business days from the time you place your order.

Split-shipment policy: If you are ordering other, non-subscription items at the same time as your subscription box (Off the Menu, or Surprise Scent,) and you would like to receive your non-subscription items before the 15th, please place a separate order. I can only double-ship your order if the other items in your order qualify for free shipping on their own. If you've ordered enough to qualify for free shipping but want me to hold the other items to ship at the same time as your subscription products, great! Feel free to leave a note with your order and let me know!

All subscriptions are self-service.

How to cancel: You may cancel your order any time before your next charge date by logging into your account and clicking on the "My Subscriptions" button. If you are unable to cancel before you're charged, please email me to be refunded ASAP, before I make and ship your product. I cannot refund products that have already been made and/or shipped.

How to edit: To cancel, pause, switch items, add additional products, notes, or coupons to your subscription orders and to edit your subscription shipping address, simply log into your account and click on the "My Subscriptions" button. The process for editing your recurring order in the portal is so easy! If you are unable to access your account for any reason, please email me and I'm happy to help.

If you move: you are responsible for updating your shipping address before your next charge date. Orders shipped to the wrong address will not be refunded or replaced. I am happy to help you update your address, but you will need to email me before your order ships!

PLEASE NOTE: Updating your subscription order address is a SEPARATE ACTION from updating the default address on your Twinkle customer account. Update both to make sure you get your order. The subscription order address can be edited in the subscription portal (accessed by clicking on the "my subscriptions" button.)

Leave a note

To leave a note at checkout - add the items you'd like to purchase to your cart. When you're ready to checkout, click on the shopping cart icon at the upper right of the screen. You'll see a box where you can type in a note. Type away!

Make sure to press the black "checkout" button when you're ready to checkout so your note doesn't get cut off. If you select one of the express-pay buttons (PayPal, G-Pay, ShopPay, etc.,) your note will get cut off.

You can still pay using one of the express options when you get to the checkout page, but you'll need to press the black checkout button to get there first!
