When will my order ship?
As a one-woman operation, we typically limit the days that we pack and ship orders to Tuesdays and Fridays. Orders placed between Friday - Monday will ship on Tuesdays, and orders placed Tuesday - Thursday will ship on Fridays. Some items (such as the crystal bath bombs and body + room spray) may be made to order as we don't keep large quantities on hand, in which case we ask that you give us an extra 3-5 business days for production before your order ships. However, most orders will ship within our typical 1-3 business day lead time.
Note that this excludes the upcoming month's beauty boxes, which will ship on the 15th of every month. You will be charged at the time that you pre-order to reserve your box, but the boxes will ship in the middle of the month.
How long until I get my package?
If you choose our free standard shipping (available to US orders only at this time): orders over 1 pound will ship via USPS Priority mail, which has a 1-3 business day lead time, depending on your location from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Orders under 1 pound will ship via USPS First Class package service, which also has a 1-3 business day lead time depending on your location. Occasionally, orders that contain just one small sample will ship via USPS First Class Mail, which can take up to 10 business days. International orders ship via USPS First Class Mail International, and lead times vary depending on your location.
Can I get expedited processing and shipping?
Yes. You have the option to choose expedited shipping at checkout. In the case that you choose expedited shipping, we will process and ship your order as soon as possible, usually the next business day. If you need assistance or require same day processing please leave a note with your order or email us!
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
You can log into your customer account to manage your orders. Log in is located at the top left of our homepage at the top of the sidebar menu. We can also edit or cancel your subscription items for you - please email us if you need help!
What is your return/refund/exchange policy?
All sales are final. Twinkle Apothecary is an extremely small business, and we offer very high quality products at exceptionally low prices. Because of this, we ask that our customers meet us halfway by starting with a sample of anything they're not 100% sure they will enjoy. Natural perfumery is an art, and fragrance preferences are very subjective. Because what we offer is so unique, ordering a $5 sample of our work is the best, most respectful way to ensure you won't end up disappointed. However, if your item arrives damaged or for any reason isn't up to our quality standards, we will absolutely refund or re-ship your item. Please contact us within 3 business days of receiving your order if you believe you require a refund.
What is the shelf life of your products?
All oil based body and skincare items, such as balms, powders, and deodorants have a 1 year shelf life, although they may last longer if kept in a cool, dry space out of direct sunlight with little exposure to bacteria. All water based items (body sprays, toning mist, etc.,) have a shelf life of 6 months. The perfumes should last for 2 years if kept in a cool, dry space out of direct sunlight. However, it is possible that the scent may change over time, as some essential oils may either deepen, bloom, or fade as they age. We do not view this as a defect - rather, it is part of the beauty of natural, plant-based fragrances! Also, note that some of our perfumes may appear cloudy or have sediment appear at the bottom of the bottle - this is just what happens as the thicker essential oils don't fully dissolve in the oil (or alcohol) and is not an indication that your perfume has gone bad!
I've heard that natural perfumes don't last - how long do yours typically last?
It really depends on the fragrance, and how it reacts with your natural body chemistry. Our fragrances contain no additives and will probably not last as long (or smell as strongly) as the typical perfumes you'll find in department stores. (For the record: we see this as a good thing as we really can't stand most mainstream perfumes!) In our perfumes, the top notes of the scent will always dissipate more quickly than the middle/heart notes, while the base notes should remain on your skin for some time. Most of our fragrances have great staying power, but a few of the lighter ones aren't meant to stick around for long. Duchess, for example, has no true "base note" and thus will not last as long as French girl, which contains strong base notes of amber, sandalwood, and patchouli.
If you are interested in extending the life of your fragrance, we recommend layering your perfume with the matching body care items to boost overall effect of the scent. Note that our spray perfumes are more highly concentrated than the oil based roll-on perfumes, but the oil-based roll on perfumes tend to last longer on the skin. We love rolling the oil based perfumes on our pulse points and also spraying the organic alcohol based perfumes on our body/hair/clothes for maximum effect.
What are your most popular scents?
With 15 different signature fragrances, it's so difficult to tell and it seems to vary depending on the season! That being said, our overall best sellers seem to be: Basic, Goddess, Nasty Woman, Mulholland, Adore, Blissed, and French Girl.
Which of your fragrances are suitable for men, and/or are considered gender neutral?
All of them! We never really understood why it was acceptable for women to wear spicy, earthy, woodsy fragrances, but not okay for men to wear florals. Just forget the name on the bottle (or peel off the label) and wear what speaks to you! That being said, men typically go for Beau Spice, Close, Dolce Vita, and Bad Hombre.
I'm so overwhelmed by all of the choices and have no idea where to start! Can you guide me to finding the right scent?
We're always happy to offer more details and answer questions about any of our products, but the best way to discover the "right" scent is to order a $5 sample and put it on your body to see how it wears on you! We've also grouped our fragrances into sample packs of four for $15, so you can choose between "sweet" "earthy" "herbal" or "floral" to sample everything we offer in your favorite scent category. We also always recommend ordering at least one sample that doesn't sound like "you," just incase you're wrong about what you think you like and/or your tastes have changed! We don't take ourselves quite as seriously as most natural perfume brands, and experimentation, play, getting creative, and mixing and matching scents is very highly encouraged. At $15 a pop for an artisan handcrafted, completely natural perfume, there's really nothing to fear, and you might just decide to collect them all anyway!
Also note that every perfume and scented body and hair care listing has a "Fragrance Notes" section, which describes the scent in more detail and provides pairing suggestions for layering.
Can you make me something custom?
We do offer custom fragrance design services for both retail and wholesale clients. The design fee for a custom scent starts at $250 for 2-4 notes and goes up as more ingredients are added. Please contact Stefanie for more information about our custom fragrance design process.
