About Twinkle Apothecary

Keep it simple

Choose your favorite plant-oil (with an optional essential oil add-in) to use anywhere on your face, body, hair, or in any number of DIY beauty or aromatherapy applications.

Ideas: Mix a pump in with your Oil or Butter for a boost or to customize the texture to your liking, add it to your Cleanser to make a mask, or, use it as a serum to spot-treat depending on your skin's needs. The possibilities are endless!

1 oz bottle with pump

Kalahari

Kalahari melon seed oil is derived from a cousin of watermelon, and is sometimes referred to as "wild watermelon." I love kalahari oil because it's lightweight, fast-absorbing, non-pore clogging, and great for all skin types. It's said to dissolve excess sebum while increasing the skin's elasticity, and is an excellent choice for oil cleansing.

Currently, I have a cold-pressed, virgin kalahari oil in stock. It's rich in omega 6 & 9 fatty acids to repair and regenerate the skin, as well as antioxidants like vitamins A, C, and E. It has a slightly nutty scent and a neutral, yellow color.

Sunflower

Sunflower seed oil is one of my favorites, because it has such a soothing, comforting texture. This organic, USA grown, expeller pressed oil is high in both oleic and linoleic acids, which means it has a rich texture that will soothe the driest skin, but it's also non-pore clogging. Sunflower is a perfect choice for skin that struggles with both dryness and breakouts.

Sunflower is rich in skin-repairing vitamins E, A, and B, and it soaks in quickly without leaving a greasy sheen. While its rich texture doesn't quite have the necessary glide for cleansing, it makes a wonderful fast-absorbing body oil or facial serum. It has a neutral, pale-yellow color, and little to no scent.

Hemp

Hemp seed oil is an extremely lightweight, fast-absorbing "dry" oil that will not clog pores, which makes it an excellent starter-oil for oily and acne-prone skin. Hemp seed oil is rich in anti-inflammatory, skin repairing omegas 3, 6, and 9.

This organic, cold-pressed oil has a deep, greenish brown hue and a slightly earthy, nutty aroma. It does not contain any CBD or THC.

Grapeseed

Grapeseed oil is a deeply penetrating and fast-absorbing oil that has a nice glide for oil cleansing or massage. In addition to nourishing fatty-acids and high levels of vitamin E, C, and D, grapeseed oil is said to be rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, which help repair free-radical damage, even skin tone, and are also said to lend grapeseed oil toning and antimicrobial properties. Grapeseed oil is another excellent choice for both dry/mature and acne prone skin.

This wild-crafted expeller-pressed oil has a light green color and a subtly sweet and earthy wine-like aroma.

Rosehip

Another extremely light and fast-absorbing "dry" oil, rosehip seed oil is one of my absolute favorites for both skin and body care, due to its high levels of skin-repairing antioxidants like vitamins A, C, B, and E. Rosehip also contains high levels of linoleic acid (omega-6) which is said to help with hyperpigmentation and balancing acne-prone skin. A wonderfully healing choice for all skin types.

Currently, I have a wild-crafted, cold pressed oil in stock from Chile, which has a vibrant light-orange color, and a very subtle sweet-earthy aroma.

Evening Primrose

Evening primrose seed oil has a luscious but light texture, with serious skin-softening properties, due to to its high amounts of omega 6 (gamma linoleic acid, or GLA.) The anti-inflammatory properties of GLA are said to help reduce redness, making evening primrose an excellent choice for dry, sensitive, and mature skin.

The organic, cold-pressed evening primrose oil I have in stock currently has a pale yellow color, and a slight earthy scent.

Avocado

Avocado seed oil has a rich, but fast-absorbing texture and is considered to be high-oleic, which makes it a good choice for healing and soothing dry skin. However, it does not clog pores, and is also a good choice for acne-prone skin. Avocado is full of anti-inflammatory antioxidants like vitamins A, C, K, and B6 (niacin,) as well as minerals like potassium and magnesium.

The organic, cold-pressed avocado oil I have in stock is a pale yellow/green color, with no scent.

Argan

Argan oil is a lightweight, non-pore-clogging oil with a somewhat slippery texture, which makes it a good choice for both cleansing, and nourishing oily and acne-prone skin. Argan is rich in skin-repairing fatty acids, and anti-inflammatory polyphenols and vitamin E.

The organic, cold-pressed extra virgin argan oil I have in stock is a pale yellow color with a slightly earthy-sweet scent.

Red raspberry

Red raspberry seed oil is a very lightweight, fast-absorbing "dry" oil, that's perfectly balancing for all skin types. It's very high in antioxidants llike vitamins A, and E, which scavenge free-radicals to prevent and repair damaged skin. It also contains an antioxidant called ellagic acid, which is said to lend red raspberry seed oil antibacterial properties, while soothing inflammatory conditions like eczema.

The cold-pressed, virgin, unrefined red raspberry seed oil I have in stock is a deep golden color, with a slightly sweet, astringent aroma.

Jojoba

Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax, which closely resembles the texture of the oil our skin produces naturally. It has a silky, slippery texture that's perfect for cleansing and massage. Jojoba oil is non-pore clogging and balancing for all skin types, and is rich in anti-inflammatory, skin-healing B-vitamins, and E.

The wild-crafted, expeller-pressed, unrefined jojoba oil I have in stock is a golden yellow orange, with no scent.

Blueberry

Blueberry seed oil is a very lightweight, fast absorbing "dry" oil that won't clog pores, and is packed with skin-repairing antioxidants, omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, and vitamin E.

The cold-pressed, unrefined, virgin blueberry seed oil that I have in stock currently is a deep purple color with a very strong, but fresh and fruity fragrance. This oil can range from green to blue in color.

Essential oils

You have the option to add in a single essential oil, at a potent but safe 1.6% dilution. These are my favorite essential oils for skin, body, or hair application.

Tea tree (organic) Tea tree oil is one of my favorites for controlling acne breakouts due to its antibacterial, antiseptic properties. It has a woodsy, medicinal, fresh, but slightly spicy scent. This is also a good one for treating flaky scalp due to its anti-fungal properties.

Lavender (Maillette) Lavender is a multi-purpose oil that has many benefits for the skin, in addition to its soothing and calming aromatherapy properties. Use it to soothe inflamed skin and repair and control breakouts. It has a fresh, herbaceous floral fragrance.

Frankincense (organic) Frankincense is one of my favorite repairing essential oils, and is great for healing scars, stretch marks, fine lines, and breakouts. It has a sharp, slightly spicy, woodsy scent with a hint of citrus.

Carrot seed Carrot seed is another favorite skin-repairing essential oil that's great for mature skin. Derived not from the carrots we eat, but daucus carota, also known as wild carrot or bishop's, or Queen Anne's lace. It has a strong, dry, earthy, herbal-woodsy scent. Carrot seed is also said to add shine and thickness in hair care formulations.

Geranium (rose) Rose Geranium essential oil is said to balance oily skin (and scalp) and promote radiance. It has a strong green, herbal, floral (rosy) fragrance.

Chamomile (roman) Chamomile essential oil is a favorite for soothing itchy, inflamed skin. It also has antibacterial properties, making it a good choice for balancing acne prone-skin. It has a strong, sweet-herbal, slightly fruity tea-like fragrance, and is said to promote calmness and tranquility.

Clary sage Clary sage is a great essential oil to support dry skin as it's said to help moisturize and promote radiance and elasticity. It has soothing anti-inflammatory properties and can help even skin tone. It has an amazing fresh but musky herbal fragrance with a tea-like quality. Clary sage is a powerful mood-lifter and stress reliever. Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding.

Ylang ylang (I, organic) Ylang ylang is another good pick for balancing oil production on the skin and scalp. It's said to have anti-inflammatory, skin soothing properties, and antiseptic properties to help control acne. It's also said to add shine in hair formulations. It promotes relaxation, calms anxiety, and is said to have aphrodisiac properties. It has a very strong, sweet, white floral fragrance.

Great for switching things up

I loved the individual fragrances of the all-over oil before it was discontinued, so I decided to give the carrier oil a try for times when I want to switch up my skincare routine from the usual essential oil blend. They’re just what I wanted! I got lavender and frankincense both in jojoba and both are just the right amount of fragrance. I like that you can pick which oil you want as a base as well. Recommend!

That's exactly why I made these! I'm so glad you're loving them, thanks for the review!

Loving these oils!

Most of the time I use the oil with acne blend added to it for my face, but occasionally I will use some of these added in or by themselves if I’m feeling luxurious or my skin some extra zhuzh. I have blueberry, raspberry, evening primrose, and sunflower. They’re not expensive to add to whatever you’re ordering already, so go for it and try one or many. ☺️

Ooh you've got all of my favorites there! So glad you're loving them, thanks for the review!

Stretch Mark Prevention

I am currently pregnant and was/am worried about stretch marks as my belly grows. I asked Stephanie on Patreon what she would recommend for growing bellies. I purchased three, grape seed with lavender, rose hip with ylang ylang and evening primrose with frankincense. The grassed and rose hip are lovely, but I think the evening primrose is so lucious! I haven’t seen one stretch mark! I traveled a lot in April and it was great as a facial oil as well!

Yay! I'm so glad you're loving it, and that it's working so well for your face and belly! And I agree, evening primrose just has such a beautiful texture. Definitely one of my top favorite oils!

Sunflower Carrier Oil

I have to say that of all of the carrier oils I bought and have tried so far, my favorite is the sunflower.
Mild, light, moisturizing, dreamy to put on and use every day. I like it on my face and neck. Thank you very much for all of the beautiful products.

Sunflower is my favorite too - I think I put it in just about everything I make! So glad you're enjoying it. Thank you for the review!

Feels amazing!

I did an Evening Primrose/Clary sage combo, and it feels amazing going on my skin. Its super moisturizing, but very lightweight feeling on my face. The smell is strong, but not in a bad way, and fades fairly quickly.

Yes, this is such a good combo! So glad it's working for you! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
