Summer is my favorite season.
Yes, I realize that's an unpopular opinion, especially here in Oklahoma where the heat can truly be oppressive at times, but I just love it.
I love the ease of summer. I mean, yeah, it's hot, but at least you never have to wonder what the weather is going to be like!
Summer may not be peak perfume season (that's fall, obviously - for all of you cardigan lovers out there,) but there are still so many wonderful smells to match the warmth, the sunshine, the outdoor activities, the flowers...
I've compiled my favorite Twinkle Apothecary perfumes for summer in this post.
And of course I made you a video!
As you can see, (assuming that you didn't blink, because I just crammed a whole bunch of perfumes into 40 seconds,) I've grouped my summer perfumes into three different categories.
First up, beachy and tropical scents
These scents can be fruity, floral, or even spicy, but to me, they all have the same, summery, vacation-y kind of vibe.
There's Wave - this was the first seasonal summer perfume I made back in 2018, which is a light, citrusy, coconut-y sandalwood perfume. Still one of my very favorites. (Actually, all of these are!)
Summer Saturdays is my most recent seasonal scent - I made this one just last summer as a solid perfume with shimmer! It's light and fruity and sweet, and you can order it in a solid or a liquid via the perfume archives listing.
Le Bikini is one I made during the pandemic when we were all desperate to get out of our houses. I wanted it to smell like the tropical getaway that I was dreaming of at the time.
Island Spice is from 2019, and it features galangal root - also known as ginger lily - which is a spicy rhizome like ginger, but it has a fruity, melon-like top note that's so unique and yummy.
Tropic Flora is from my current collection, and it has a lot of the same elements as Le Bikini and Island Spice, but it's bigger, and bolder, and more rich. But still very wearable in the heat!
But if warm, fruity florals aren't your thing, you may want to check out my crisp, woodsy, herbal summer scents.
Like, Cat Buttons. This one is so refreshing, with light citrus and mint notes, a subtle hint of neroli, and cool palo santo.
Tonic is like a zesty lime and ginger cocktail, with juniper, cognac, and cedarwood.
Backyard is a solid fragrance that's green and grassy and earthy, with violet leaf, geranium, marigolds, and rich, woodsy agarwood, cedar, and patchouli. This one is so nostalgic for me - I was inspired by summertime celebrations in my own family's backyard growing up.
Finally, I've got some light and citrusy perfumes that are perfect for hot, summer days.
Goddess is bright, citrusy, herbal, and earthy, with orange, palmarosa, geranium, and patchouli.
Orange Blossom Water is a light, breezy floral - I think it smells like Orangina!
And finally, there's Pompette. This is the perfume that I crowdsourced on Instagram in the summer of 2020 by allowing my followers to vote on what ingredients went into the scent! We (or, you,) wanted it to smell like a light, refreshing, citrusy drink! Just a heads up - you wouldn't let me put any earthy base notes in, so it's a very light perfume that doesn't wear long on the skin. But, sometimes a light refresh is all you really want on Summer's hottest days anyway!
So if you're in the mood to change it up for the season, I hope you'll order some samples of these to test out from the Perfume Archives. Or, you could get a 3 month subscription to my Surprise Scent Monthly, which will definitely feature some of these favorites over the next few months.
Thanks for stopping by!
