Hi there, Oklahoma City!
I just wanted to post my back-to-school shop schedule here on the blog so there's less chance of anyone missing the update.
It's been great being open all day, 6 days a week for the past month, but now it's back to school and back to reality. The reality is that I started Twinkle Apothecary to create and share work that's meaningful to me while having the freedom to be present for my son's childhood, and this is what that looks like right now.
I've worked very, very hard to get my business to this point, and I'm sure I will continue to work and grow my business to the point where I can hire a staff and have "regular" shop hours, but to be honest I'm pretty darn content with the way things are now.
We live in such an interesting time. Everyone is an entrepreneur. Everyone is hustling. Everyone is posting about how great they're doing at manifesting abundance on instagram. It's so tempting to get caught up in feeling like I constantly need to level up, keep up, keep chasing the next big goal...
But the more I think about it, the more I understand that the kind of abundance I want doesn't need to be manifested because it's already here in front of me. It's in my son's hand when I walk him to school in the mornings. It's in my teacup. My yoga mat. In the cabinet where I keep my perfume ingredients. In the conversations I have with my customers in my adorable little shop and in knowing that you're taking a piece of my heart home with you. It's at the dinner table. On my couch with my cat and a good movie. Reading the paper on Sunday mornings...
My point is, the smallness of my business and my life is my f a v or i t e part. I don't want to chase so many big dreams that I have to sacrifice all (or any) of those delicious, tiny little things. I want to soak them up. I want to be present and truly enjoy them. That is my dream, and I'm proud to say that right now, I'm living it.
I trust that my local customers will continue to support my business by shopping online, or coming in earlier, or on Fridays and Saturdays when I'm open in the afternoons/evenings. (Side note: I'm so grateful that my parents are willing and able to help with childcare most weekends. I love that my son loves being with them and gets to have a close relationship with his grandparents. I couldn't do this without them. We are so lucky!)
I will be coming back to work some days after school if I have more to do and you're welcome to come by if we're here, but I reserve the right to take the afternoons off. As always, I will post my daily schedule and any updates in my Instagram stories, so stay tuned to that if you want to make sure you don't miss me!
