Sweet, warm, rosy, woodsy

Fragrance type: stand-alone

Scent families: fruit, floral, woods, earth, sweet

Top notes: citrus, almond, cherry

Middle notes: rose, cardamom, coffee

Base notes: cedar, tonka, tobacco, vetiver

Like a sweet, warm, cozy hug.

Bright, clear, juicy notes of citrus, cherry, and almond burst out of the bottle to introduce this scent. This vivid sweetness lasts only a few brief moments while making the way for soft, warm, rosy florals.

Subtle spice notes (nutmeg, cardamom) add a sparkling warmth. The floral notes are quiet and soft, almost melting into your skin, as if they've always been there. You simply radiate with a sweet, powdered, light musk. The remaining almond and lemon notes are somewhat reminiscent of soap.

There are caramelized wood notes in the base, but they are so smooth that you hardly notice them. They merely suspend the softness and warmth for as long as possible.

Natural fragrance FAQs:

Why naturals?

Because synthetic fragrances give me a headache! As an HSP with an extremely sensitive nose, I've always loved the idea of perfume, but wearing it made me sick until I discovered natural fragrance materials like essential oils, CO2 extractions, and absolutes.

I don’t know if natural perfumes are the safer or more sustainable choice. I can tell you that I LOVE the way real plants and flowers smell! I also love the way that wearing natural perfume makes me feel. It’s subtle, intricate, and wears close to the skin, allowing a more personal and grounding mind-body experience to unfold.

If you're looking for a budget-friendly fragrance that will last all day and night to give you the most "bang for your buck" you are on the wrong website. And that's ok! There's nothing wrong with synthetic fragrance materials, they're just not my thing.

If you're looking for something more complex that will interact with your body chemistry to make you feel more peaceful and connected to the earth, I think you'll find something to enjoy from Twinkle Apothecary.

100% natural perfume is DIFFERENT, so please forget everything you think you know about perfume. Really - mainstream perfumes take a lot of creative liberty with fragrance notes, so many people are confused when they smell the real thing and it’s not the same. Samples are your friends. Friends don’t let friends waste precious earth materials that they aren’t going to enjoy.

Keep in mind that there is an inherent “earthy” quality to these ingredients, as they literally come out of the ground. This is a turn-off for some, but I find that what many people think of as “earthy” actually smells “fresh” to me. I guess to me, "fresh" equals "real."

How long does it last?

That depends on your individual nose and body chemistry. I’ve listed the approximate wear time in the product descriptions as tested on myself, but I have a very sharp nose.

These fragrances are dynamic and meant to unfold and change over time. The top note ingredients will always dissipate more quickly than the middle/heart notes, while the base notes should remain on your skin for some time.

It is a myth that oil-based or solid fragrances last longer. If longevity is a top priority for you, try a sample of both the alcohol and oil based options to see which one lasts longer on your skin.

These perfumes are full-strength and ready to wear as-is. Mixing your perfume into a carrier oil or other moisturizer will only dilute the fragrance, making it less strong and long wearing. Instead, consider layering your perfume over the matching body oil to moisturize your skin  and boost the scent.

We live in an overly fragranced world, and 100% natural fragrances can easily be overwhelmed by strongly scented laundry detergents, hand soaps, lotions, etc., so consider switching to unscented (or naturally scented) products to ensure that your natural Twinkle perfume shines through.

How to layer the layering fragrances?

Apply the base note (or heaviest, strongest) scent first. Once it dries and/or settles into your skin a bit, apply one or more middle note fragrances over it. Then, finish with the lightest, top note fragrance as a final touch.

Or, do whatever you want and change it up as you see fit. There aren’t actually any rules!

Other fragrance FAQs

Are all of your ingredients organic?

No, everything is all-natural and 100% botanical based but some of the more obscure ingredients aren’t available as an organically grown option. (And in some instances the conventionally grown ingredient smells better!)

The oil and alcohol perfume bases are organic.

How do you ensure your ingredients are sustainable and child labor free?

I source from reputable, responsible, cruelty-free suppliers, whom I’ve come to trust to provide me with the highest quality ingredients available over my past decade as a natural perfumer. If you would like to vet them yourself, feel free to do so. My main supplier is Eden’s Botanicals, and I also have some ingredients from Organic Infusions, Lotus Garden, and Aftelier Perfumes.

Which is better? Oil, alcohol, or solid perfume?

There isn’t one better option. They all have pros and cons! I’m partial to the alcohol based sprays but oil based perfumes seem to be more popular.

Which of your fragrances are more masculine or suitable for men?

Everything here is gender-neutral. Read through the descriptions and try a sample of anything that sounds good to you.

What if I get a rash?

Stop using the product and make a note of all of the ingredients listed in the product for future reference. I cannot be responsible for everyone’s allergies and do not offer refunds. Always start with a sample first.

I’m pregnant, which of your perfumes should I avoid?

Congratulations! That is a question for a doctor, not a perfumer.

Absolutely Gorgeous

This one reminds me of almond extract. It's a very happy, sweet, and cozy scent.

Ooh, thank you! So glad you enjoy!

Another great fragrance

I am continually impressed by these wonderful perfumes. Each one is better than the last and I love how this smells. This scent immediately reminded me of the Jergen’s cherry almond lotion. I’d love to get my dry shampoo in this scent the next time I need more. These perfumes are not overpowering at all. My husband who historically complains about ANY scent likes how this smells when I wear it so that is really saying something. I really love how this perfume makes me feel.

Wow, that's so nice to hear! I love those cherry almond top notes too - it's tempting for me to use bitter almond extract in everything but I try to hold back for the sake of variety! I'm so glad you're loving it, and I can't wait to make you a dry shampoo. Thanks so much!

Creamy and Rosy

Much like the name of the product, the rose cream fragrance is very fragrant and creamy smelling. I just grabbed it as a sample among some other fragrances. And it's my personal favorite. Also it last a decent amount of time during the day. Overall good stuff.

Lovely! So glad to hear that you're enjoying it. Thanks so much for sharing your review!
